ABOUT THE BLUE DISTRICT

What is The Blue District?
The Blue District provides a place for you to enjoy the company of your friends, and even meet some new ones!  We do this by hosting various events throughout the City of Sacramento.  Check out our Calendar of Events for some examples.    

But I’m not single… 
That’s okay!  We are not a dating service, and our events are not intended to be “singles mixers.”  However, if you happen find true love at an event, just be sure to invite us to the wedding!

What about professional networking?
That’s okay too!  The best part about meeting new people is that you will naturally expand your professional network.  But, just as we are not a dating service, we are also not a networking service…so leave your 9-to-5 at the office, loosen up your tie, and have some fun! 

Are you going to do anything besides Dinner Groups?
Yes!  We have lots of exciting new things coming just around the corner.  Check the Calendar of Events and the Staff Blogs often for information on upcoming groups, parties, and events.

BECOMING A MEMBER

How old do I have to be to join?
The only age requirement is that you be 21 or older, due to alcohol service.

Will you have events that emphasize a certain group of people (age, sexual orientation, race, etc.)?
No.  All of our events are open to any member of The Blue District, regardless of age, sexual orientation, race, education, marital status, religious belief, etc.  In fact, we will not host an event that we feel will emphasize any particular segment of our membership. 

How do I sign up to become a member?

EVENTS – GENERAL

Okay, so how do I sign up for a group function or an event?
First, sign up to become a member.  Then, view the Calendar of Events to decide which event you would like to attend.  If an event catches your eye, simply click on the “Sign Me Up” button on the bottom of the event, and it will be added to your Shopping Cart.  When you’re done, click the “Check Out” link at the top of the screen, and you’re on your way!

Can I cancel my reservation for an event?
Absolutely!  Unless otherwise stated, you can cancel any event.  Be sure to cancel before the specified deadline (check the event’s details) and your credit card will be fully refunded.

What if I don’t meet the cancellation deadline?
Unfortunately, out of respect for the time and procedures of our hosting businesses, you will be charged in full for the event if you do not cancel by the stated cancellation deadline, regardless of whether or not you attend.

Can I bring a friend with me?
Yes you can!   We have two ways for you to do this.  The first is by clicking the “Invite A Friend” button on the event page.  This will send an email to your friend, telling them about the event, and encouraging him/her to sign up for it.  The second way is to simply purchase a seat for your friend.  Each event page has a link to both RSVP for yourself, and RSVP for your friend.  Simply enter his/her member username in the spot indicated, click the button, and you will add him/her to the list!  Of course, you will have to purchase the seat for him/her, so make sure you get your money back (or at least a couple of drinks)!

I can’t find a friend to go with me, and I really don’t want to go alone?  What should I do?
That’s completely understandable.  Each event has a Facilitator, whose job is to introduce you to the other people at the event.  So rest assured that you will be meeting, and walking away with, plenty of friends by the time the event is over!  But, if you are still feeling a bit uncomfortable, just give us a call, and you can meet the Facilitator for that particular event beforehand. 

EVENTS – DINNER

I’m looking at the menus for the dinner group.  Can I order something that is not on the menu?
Unfortunately, no.  Each menu is hand-designed by the restaurant specifically for The Blue District.  Because of this, this menu is pre-set and cannot be altered.  However, if you have a dietary issue, please let the server at the restaurant know.   

I don’t drink alcohol.
Each dinner event comes with an alcoholic beverage.  But if you don’t drink alcohol, simply ask your server to substitute it for a non-alcoholic beverage.  Note that, due to pre-payment of the event and the pre-set menu, you will still be charged for the original beverage.

One glass of wine is not enough for me…
Me neither!  The dinner event will come with one beverage, but you are more than welcome to purchase whatever additional drinks you would like.  These additional drinks need to be purchased separately, however; the server will handle your payment.  Please note:  An 18-20% tip is strongly encouraged on all additional purchases.  And please, let a facilitator know if you need a ride home.  A cab is only a phone call away.

I have a favorite place that I would like to recommend for an event.
Personal recommendations make the top of our list of new restaurants to feature.  Let us know your favorite place and we will do our very best to visit that restaurant.

REVIEWS

I really loved the restaurant that we went to.  How do I tell people about it?
Post a review on the website!  At the bottom of each restaurant’s page, please post a review of the restaurant, letting present and future members know how great the place is!

What are the guidelines for writing reviews?
We only ask that you be honest, kind, and respectful of the restaurant, fellow members, and The Blue District.  Your honest opinion is important, but it is best conveyed when following these guidelines.  Reviews that do not follow these guidelines will be promptly removed (see the Terms of Service and Use).

MEDIA

Can I get copies of the pictures from the event?
Yes!  Click the Media  button on our homepage, and find the date and location of the event.  All pictures are available for download.  Photos from events not listed on the page are archived at our office.  Contact Us and we will make the pictures available to you!
