Lunch Times! - Written on 03 Jan 2008

Hey!  Okay, so I'm still getting in the swing of this blogging thing, and after taking a 2 motnh hiatus, I am ready to get back on the horse.  It is a new year after all... And honestly, if the next 363 are as great as the last two have been.

So I'm lookin at the cut and dry blogs that Manny posts, and the insane hillarity of Julie's, and I'm wondering if I should offer something in the middle. To be completely honest, I have no idea.   At first I thought maybe I should just provide various rants and raves about my life and city, but then I realized, that I don't like to go on and on and on.  And realy, when you get down to it, this entire site is dedicated to ranting and raving (although I expect to see more raving then ranting).  Then I thought I might want to put up lists and lists of great finds I have discoered abotu town.  Anything from music, live entertainment, great food, drinks, dancing, cupcakes, hell, you name it.  I had a slight doubt because I know that people enjoy discovery, and if I give away all the great discoveries for you where is the fun in that?   Then I thought maybe a video blog would be approprtiate, but then I would have to make sure my hair was done properly every day.  Too much bother...

So what is to become of Stewart's blog??!?!?!  Here I sit, hungry, a little tired, dehydrated, and just ready to go to lunch and get ahead with my day.  Maybe I just need to sleep on it.  I'm not sure how many people out there are reading this, but I expect that number to increase dramatically in te following months.  So I better figure it out.  I think the way to go, in true Stewart fashion (those of you who know me will get this) is just to go all out about anything I feel like writing about. So.... you can expect to see in 2008, me talking about...

Friends, music, local shops, my days in the restaurant industry, conceptual marketing theory, dogs, cupcakes, cooking, dining out, pulitzer prize winning novels, bitching about this new version of Microsoft word, reviews, metaphysics, bills, credit, opera, experimental theater, health and fitness, astrology, vichyssoise, and anything else that comes to mind.  Yes, that just about does it.

Now a big "woot woot" to all my Capricorns out there, especially my sister, who turns 22 today.  Sadly, I cannot attend your birthday dinner tonight, but I promise I will make it up to you!

 Namaste,

Stewart Troupe

New Blog - Written on 16 Oct 2007

I was supposed to write this yesterday, but I was busy stuffing and hand adressing 70 invitations.  Not typical marketing work, but between me and Manny, I have the better handwriting.

The office is empty at the moment. Soon Julie and Manny will arrive and the raucus will begin. For now, however, I can sip my green tea and look down on 16th street below.  Today will be a bit of a dreary day, but for the most part, this is my favorite time of year in Sacramento.

It's so ftting that The Blue District would launch this time of year.  For me personally, this time of year is the most excititng.  The holidays usually are responsible for most of the excitement (and the added fun of my birthday).  People seem to be in the mood to be out.  Going shopping, travelling to see friends and family.  Trick or treating, enjoying a meal.  Anyone in the retail or service industries knows how hectic this time of year can be, but that always excites me.  I feed off the energy, and it feels good!

For me, however, October is the calm before the storm.  I only have a few engagements to look forward to in the next few weeksso it's perfect timing to start our weekly book discussions and our weekly yoga group.

These should be very exciting!  Our first book Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides is an amazing book.  I read it a few years ago, and it is hands down one of my favorite books I have ever read.  It's a winner of the Pulitzer Prize for literature and even had a stint on Oprah's book club a while back.

I'm thrilled about yoga as well.  I was a yogaphile briefly back in college, but haven't really had the chance to get back into it.

All this and my birthday lies on the horizon.  What a great time of year!!!
